and this evening, the prime meridian...

It passed without notice on the ship, but at 8:50pm ship time (GMT) we crossed the prime meridian. Location was:

Latitude: 8 degrees, 29.7 S
Longitude: 0 degrees 0
Course: 135 degrees
Speed: 25.7 knots

It has been a fairly routine day. We were invited, along with half a dozen or so other faculty families, to the Dean's cabin for hors d'oeuvres and drinks tonight. It was a nice gathering and we met some people we had not yet had an opportunity to meet. John and I have been suffering a bit from the time change today, even though it was the first in a week or more, so we will have an early night.

Teresa- This is Ellen Griffith. I am the mom of Monica! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time and effort to be part of a "ship family". And seeing the photo was such a treat. As monica has been guarding her internet minutes and we have not seen any photos since she left. You all look great - Thank you again for sharing yourself with the student of SAS!

Dear Monica's Mom:
As a good friend of Theresa's I can assure you that your daughter couldn't ask for a more caring, intelligent, level-headed mentor! I have one daughter and two sons and can't think of anyone better to pair them up with in such a situation. Monica will love her and learn so much from her. I miss her terribly but am enjoying the daily reports.
Sincerely,
Denise Oman
